2012 Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

Happy New Year everyone!! I have taken a nice little break but am ready to get back to blogging and sharing more great paint colors with you.

I have to tell you that I love January. It’s a fresh start for me and a new beginning with endless possibilities. I love making lists of things I want to accomplish and even though I don’t ever get it all done I like feeling ambitious and having that hope that maybe this year I can do it. 🙂

Well 2012 is here and as we begin anew why not start with a fresh paint color?!  Pantone has just released the new color of the year and I wanted to share it with you because I think it’s so fun. It’s called Tangerine Tango and it’s a “spirited reddish orange, which continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.” Fun huh?!

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

I  LOVE the pop of color this orangish tint gives to an ordinary room. It adds life, even in small doses so as the new year begins I wanted to share a bit of inspiration that I found with orange in the home.

The color of the year!

Here are some ideas of items that can be painted orange to add a pop of color:
Here are some other uses of Tangerine/Orange that I love:

Isn’t it a delicious color?!
Do you have orange in your home?? If so, where?
Stay tuned for more paint colors and new additions I am adding to Favorite Paint Colors. This will be an exciting year! Happy 2012!

Perfect for Denver Broncos home decorating!

  • Hurray for Orange Doors and the Denver Broncos!!!

  • I think I’ve just foundmy long, lost twin. A sight dedicated to color. I”m a huge Sherwin Williams fan but love color in general. I love helping others pick out colors for their home and palettes that make them happy. I’m so obsessed that I’m even known to coordinate my food by color and when cleaning my sons room a found a stash of paint chips in his drawer! But even more ORANGE is my favorite color and I’m excited to see it make headlines, truly. My kitchen is Copper Harbor by Sherwin Williams. It was the first color I chose in my home. It actually make me want to be in my kitchen. I love it!!! Love your site, so glad I found it.

  • I love it Laura! I’m so glad you found FPC too! If you have pictures of your home, I would love to see your kitchen or any other favorite paint colors you have. Let me know, but thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

  • This is a great dramatic colour – the best version I can find and use is this one from Charlotte’s Locks from Farrow and Ball – http://www.paint-paper.co.uk/paint/farrow-ball/cat_14.html
