I was contacted by My Memories to review their software. A lot of times I get e-mails about promotions, but it doesn't really pertain to my site so I turn it down. I was introduced to this program by a friend over the summer but I never really had a chance to look at it, so when I got the e-mail it caught my eye. I used to do a lot of digital scrapbooking and really loved it, but I had another baby, have a husband in law school now and I don't have the time to spend on it like I used to.
So when they contacted me, I jumped at the chance. I am having a baby shower for a friend in a few weeks and thought I'd try to make an invitation. There were soo many options to choose from, I didn't have to download anything (you can if you want to) and was able to choose from lots of different papers, embellishments, fonts, shapes, etc. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted, but here's what I came up with.
It was fun to put together and so much easier than downloading the scrapbooking kits and creating it on photoshop. I'm not a person that reads manuals or instructions and so it took some trial and error, but now that I have the hang of it, something like this would take only a few minutes to make.
I took it CVS, printed it out using a free code I had, and paid nothing for invitations! It was awesome.
I started playing around with it again the next night, this time working on something for a new segment I wanted to add to Favorite Paint Colors and here it is:
I have gotten quite a few e-mails about color combinations, including what colors go well together so I want to add some of MY favorite color combinations. Here is the first one, all colors from Sherwin Williams. The colors are all coordinating, meaning they compliment each other and would look great used together. I will have a more detailed post on future color combinations later, but I wanted to show you what else I was able to create with this awesome software!
(Also, my blog is getting a little facelift over the weekend and you can see a little sneak peek above.)
As for the software, here are my conclusions. It was fun to play around designing the invitation and seeing all of the options that were available. It was a little tricky to figure out at first, but that's probably because I was too impatient and didn't take the time to watch any of the tutorials. I loved the layout and the best part is you can print your creations out anywhere you'd like to, even at home. They also have a place where you can get it professionally printed through their site. You can make photo books, calendars, collages, cards, videos, etc. Whatever your little heart desires. In other words, it's kind of a cross between Photoshop and Picaboo.

I'm very interested in digital scrapbooking. I think it's something I'm far more likely to do than actual scrapbooking when our little one arrives.

Can't wait to see what you do with the color combinations feature! I couldn't pick out coordinating paint colors if my life depended on it...right now I'm trying to figure out what's a great accent wall color to go with the SW Windsor Greige in our living room. So I'm waiting with bated breath!
ReplyDeleteI used to love scrapbooking but I think I'd like digital even more! And I love what you were able to do with it. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI have no digital scrapbooking experience, but I would love to try it. Not just for documenting our family memories, but also to do other fun things with it!!

ReplyDeleteSo far I have only scrapbooked making each element by hand with stamps, punches and hand lettering. I think digital scrapbooking would really expand my abilities in scrapbooking!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE digital scrapbooking. This has become my preferred gift as of late. Last summer, we took my daughter's friend on vacation with us. I made sure to take lots of pictures to remember the fun we had. I made two albums, one for my daughter and one for my daughter to give her friend for Christmas. My favorite album that I made was for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. I converted all of the slides from when we were little (easily done at a local pharmacy chain) to the digital format. I then made it into a photobook for my parents. What a treat for them to see treasured memories they had long forgotten.
ReplyDeleteGirl, it looks SO good over here! Love what I'm seeing :)
ReplyDeleteVery VERY glad you're doing the color combinations, and I adore the first one!
