Disclosure: I received paint from Sherwin-Williams as compensation for the post. All views and opinions expressed in the post are my own and no other compensation was provided.

A few weeks ago I showed you our bathroom before pictures and some of the paint colors I chose for our bathroom remodel. We are DONE and I am ready to show you the reveal! It’s a night and day difference and I love being able to check a project like this off of our list. Another look at the befores…

And the AFTER…

Framed mirror paint color

To add a pop of color and finish off the mirror we framed it and painted it a very similar match to the shower curtain, rug, and towel – it’s called Sweet as a Peach by Sherwin-Williams. I love it and it turned out to be the perfect color. The lighting was really tricky to grab a good picture, but it looks a million times better than the original.

The shower was the most time intensive part. My husband was up a few nights until 2 in the morning trying to finish it, we had family coming in and wanted to get it done before they arrived. It took A LOT longerthan we anticipated but I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

And for our closet we removed all of the old shelving, painted it the same color as the walls, grabbed some leftover boards from our built-ins and made shelves. I love having an organized closet and know where everything is.

Bathroom closet organization

Here is a mood board I completed before we started the bathroom. It’s a great way to see how your choices will coordinate. You can see the sources below.

Girls bathroom mood board - Favorite Paint Colors

1. Bathroom Rug – Target

2. Subway Tile for shower – Lowe’s

3.  Floor tile – Lowe’s

4. Shower floor tile – Lowe’s

5. Wall paint color: Repose Gray by Sherwin-Williams (Semi-gloss in Emerald)

6. Vanity paint color: Grizzle Gray by Sherwin-Williams (Semi-Gloss in Pro-Classic – the only paint I would use on cabinets or furniture. It is VERY durable)

7. Bathroom mirror frame: Sweet as a Peach by Sherwin-Williams (HGTV collection)

8. Shower curtain – Target Threshold

And for our countertops … We had a heck of time deciding what to do with them. I really wanted to get a premade quartz countertop from Lowe’s, but the sink hole was right in the middle and because of the way our vanity was set up we needed it on the right. We thought about getting a new vanity,  but for the price we wanted to pay, most of them were very cheaply made and I didn’t love their setup. Ours was solid wood and I liked the drawers it had so we decided to just paint it – I really love the results.

We also looked at custom ordering a quartz countertop, that ended up costing close to $800, I looked at granite slabs, that was right around there as well, and one day I was strolling through the kitchen area in Lowe’s and ran into their laminate cuts – this one was $68 and the dimensions were perfect. Long story short, we went with laminate and it looks great. One of my friends thought it was granite!

My husband had to cut the backsplash off because it ended up being a little deeper than we wanted, and we found out our walls are not square, so it left a gap in between the backsplash and the wall. So we bought the tile and did the backsplash ourselves.

We had a few hiccups along the way, projects never go the way you want them to, but oh it feels good to have it finished.

End Table Makeover for our Playroom

We are getting soo close to moving into our house. My husband is finishing up the kitchen and I have been tackling the playroom trying to put our toys into a semi-organized state.  I painted an old end-table I found at a yard sale last summer for the playroom and wanted to share it with you today.

My inspiration came a “you are my sunshine” plaque my mother-in-law gave to my girls a little while ago. My youngest at the time had to have this song every night before she went to bed, it reminds me of her so I love it, and especially love the color combination of the yellow, turquoise and coral. So when Sherwin-Williams released their color of the year for 2015, I knew I wanted to incorporate it into our playroom. They were so kind to let me try a gallon of their Pro-Classic paint in Coral Reef, and I love the results.

I was so excited to get working on it one night, I forgot to take before pictures. I know it’s an awful picture, but you get the idea of how it looked before it’s makeover. Pretty plain and ugly. And the blue painted carpet and mess in the background… so glad that’s gone.

I gave it a couple of coats of Zinsser Primer, sprayed on a couple of coats of Coral Reef, put the hardware back on ….

And here it is, so much happier.

If you are looking for a perfect Coral, I think you will love this color, not too pinky or orangy, really a great mix. I am excited to show you where else I am using it in our playroom.

2012 Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

Happy New Year everyone!! I have taken a nice little break but am ready to get back to blogging and sharing more great paint colors with you.

I have to tell you that I love January. It’s a fresh start for me and a new beginning with endless possibilities. I love making lists of things I want to accomplish and even though I don’t ever get it all done I like feeling ambitious and having that hope that maybe this year I can do it. 🙂

Well 2012 is here and as we begin anew why not start with a fresh paint color?!  Pantone has just released the new color of the year and I wanted to share it with you because I think it’s so fun. It’s called Tangerine Tango and it’s a “spirited reddish orange, which continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.” Fun huh?!

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

I  LOVE the pop of color this orangish tint gives to an ordinary room. It adds life, even in small doses so as the new year begins I wanted to share a bit of inspiration that I found with orange in the home.

The color of the year!

Here are some ideas of items that can be painted orange to add a pop of color:

Isn’t it a delicious color?!
Do you have orange in your home?? If so, where?
Stay tuned for more paint colors and new additions I am adding to Favorite Paint Colors. This will be an exciting year! Happy 2012!
