Favorite Color Combos + Chip It

February 10, 2012 by Kristin Williams 3 Comments

Here is another color combination for you! When I do these, I don’t want you to think I’m expecting you to paint your walls 4 different colors. If it were me, I would choose one paint color (Khaki Shade for example) for your main color, use Crisp Linen for the trim, choose Hearts of Palm and Hazel for another room if you’d like, or use them as accent colors. 🙂 Or vice versa. If you ever have any questions let me know, but I think these colors would look fantastic together.
And, Sherwin Williams just launched a new online tool called “Chip It”. I was just introduced to it last week and I have to say it’s pretty cool.
Here is how Rachel from Sherwin Williams explained it to me: “This first-of-its-kind web-based tool transforms any online image into a palette of Sherwin-Williams paint colors with just the click of a button.
To get started, users create a profile on www.letschipit.com via their Facebook or Twitter accounts and then simply add a bookmarklet to their web browser for easy access. Up to ten Sherwin-Williams paint colors can be identified by simply scrolling over the image. Photos and palettes can be saved in users’ Chip It! profile, with the option of sharing the palette on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest.”
So I found some pictures on Pinterest I really liked, put the URL into Chip It! and voila! I’ve got some awesome color pallettes. (To find the URL right click on the picture, go to “properties” at the bottom and once you click on properties you should see the URL listed. This is how it works on my PC using Internet Explorer – it may be different for other computers???)
It works great to pull the color from the pictures, but I didn’t find it worked so well if you were trying to find a specific color. I tried adding a few pictures from my site that were Sherwin Williams colors and it didn’t match it correctly, but it gives you a general place to start.

My daughter was helping me find pictures and we couldn’t leave out Miss Tangled. See, the possibilites are really endless! 🙂
You can add ChipIt right to your tool bar, it’s super easy to do and can be done with any picture as you can see. Watch the quick video clip on the Chip It site, it makes it look way easy, and it is! Let me know what you think of it and have a great weekend! Soo glad it’s Friday!
